Our Christmas!

Well this Christmas for me at least was anything but typical. Umm let's see, for one: I'm pregnant, two: my husband spent most of Christmas break in California with his family and three: David and I became the foster parents of a 14 and 15 year old.

We found out that we were finally going to be foster parents in early December but it wasn't until December 17th that Nicole moved in to our home. Nicole's 15 year old sister Kathryn got to spend Christmas day with us and we are hoping that Kathryn will be spending more and more time with us until she can move in with us as well. We are hoping that will take place sometime this summer. All of our family members have been so helpful during this transition and we feel like Nicole is adjusting really well. Nicole and Kathryn are such beautiful girls, and they are so much fun to be around and have in our home.

On Christmas morning we drove up to Ladoga, IN to pick up Kathryn okay David and Nicole got on the road around 6AM! while I stayed home and started the Christmas music and got all of the last minute gifts out and ready. David, Kathryn and Nicole arrived back around 9:30 or so and David and I enjoyed watching the girls open their gifts. After the girls got all dolled up we went over to my parents house for Christmas breakfast and we all opened a few more gifts before heading off to Indianapolis to drop David off at the airport. The girls and I then went to see P.S. I Love You at the Metropolis in Plainfield. It was decorated so beautiful, and I got some great pictures of the girls. after watching the saddest movie in the world that I cried through while the girls laughed through it, we were back on the road to drop Kathryn off for the night! Busy Busy... I tell you.

As for Pregnency I am 17 weeks now and still getting sick! At least it hasn't been everyday like before, so I will take that but it would be awesome if it would go away all together.... soon! Our next appt. is on Jan. 11th. I am not sure what they will be doing, but we are still not finding out what we are having so we won't have any news for you all!! I am starting to show a little and I hope to be able to start feeling the baby soon.

Well Hopefully this updates you all a little as to what has been going on in our family. We would love to still have your prayers as this is still all very new to all of us, and Nicole just started a new school this week. We pray that she will find a good group of friends that will be encouraging and supportive of her situation.

Here are a few pictures or our newest family members and Sota Bear! (Poor Daisy Mae (our other dog) is always left out)

Our First Baby Picture

Here is our little one at 7 weeks and 5 days old. Dr. Sakbun said that if we could see the little one it would look like a little piece of flesh with a heart beat. Although you can not see anything at all in this photo, unless you're a doctor, you will notice quite a little heart beat. Our baby is 1.45 cm long with 166 beats per minute. That's smaller than a fingernail clipping.

We have a little one on the way!

Well we are finally able to break the news. David and I are expecting our first little one. We are pretty excited to say the least. It looks like our baby will be arriving around June 14, 2008. I do not want to find out what we are having but several people have been checkng out the Chinese Calendar to see what it will be. Although I am sure the Chinese Calendar has no scientific basis, it has been correct for everyone we know that's used it in the last couple of years, so I am not interested in hearing what people are finding out! I can't even imagine how exciting it will be to hear that "It's a Girl, or "It's a Boy" the day he or she arrives. 9 months seems like forever, but I hear it goes fast, plus it gives us a chance to figure out what the heck we need to be doing. Friends and Family be ready to answer some questions for me :)

Since we are not finding out what the sex of our baby will be, it has been hard to find bedding that is really unisex, or that I like. We did decide that we like the Fisher Price Rainforest Collection, but of course it has no bedding to go with it, so we will have to put our creativity to work on finding some things to match. Well we put a countdown ticker on our blog so we can patiently count down the days. I go back to the doctor on November 9 and we should be able to hear the heart beat, the doctor will also finalize the due date as we will get to see the size of our little one! We will keep you posted.

Corey Apple Festival

Hello everyone! Well I don't have any pictures to post this week, but I am just so excited to have internet access back that I am doing a weekly update anyway. This weekend I set some of my Tastefully Simple stuff up out at the Corey Apple Festival. It is hard to tell right now if being out there will bring me any business. I didn't sell as much as I would have liked too, I even had to mark my prices down just to bring on some business but on a good note I was able to invite several people to my open house on October 8, 2007 from 5-9 and all of my catalogs were taken so I am just praying that I will gain some clients. My wonderful husband stayed out there with me all day long, helped me set up, and even manned my booth so I could walk around and shop myself. The only thing that I was really looking for was a fall decoration for my front door, which I found and it looks quite cute. Other than that we went to church Sunday Morning, and relaxed around the house the rest of the time. I hope all of you had a nice and relaxing fall weekend.

HOME SWEET HOME

Well I am happy to announce that we are back in touch with technology. David and I are finally settling in to our new home where we had been without cable, phone, and internet for almost a month now. We have been so busy painting and getting our house in order and I must say that it is finally coming along. It looks so different then the day we walked in to it. I can't wait for all of our friends and family to visit with us in our new home. We should have so many things to update you on since we last posted on the blog, but it would be way too much to go back and recap, so lets stick with the basics: David and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary! We ventured out to Rockome Gardens in Illnois for a day, it was nice but we had so many things running through our minds about what needed to be done at the house, that we cut our day trip short and headed back for some more painting. I have been blessed with a great job, and yes it was the one I wanted. My schedule is great and my days go by so quickly, my co-workers have been super nice and are helping me learn all the specifics of the job. David has been working nights at the Staples Distribution Center, there are both positives and negatives about his new job. The actual job has been pretty good for him, and there is a week every month where he has 7 days off in a row, but we just experienced his one week a month where he worked six days in a row, so it seems like we haven't had a whole lot of time together especially with how busy we have been with the house. For those of you who are in town I am having a Tastefully Simple Fall Open House at our new house on October 8, 2007 from 5-9:00 pm, let me know if you are interested and I will get you some more information. I guess that is it in a nutshell. Enjoy looking at our new home!
